We believe in the power of sport to shape lives.
The Comeback Project provides injured student-athletes the clarity that comes with fast medical imaging and diagnosis, free of charge. So they can get back in the game.
Contact TCPWe believe in the potential of student athletes to make a difference - on the field, for their family, in their community.
Time is of the essence, especially for injured student-athletes. When an injury occurs, delayed diagnosis can mean longer recovery, a missed season, and unnecessary worry for families. X-rays often do not tell the whole story, or provide enough detail to determine the next steps.
Our goal is to provide MRI scans or needed EKG's within 72 hours, ensuring a swift path to recovery and a quicker return to the field. Free of charge.
An MRI will give you a closer look at your injury, providing additional information so you can make smart choices about how to proceed.

Founded by Mark Segura and Shobi Zaidi, M.D., The Comeback Project is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization built on the belief that sports brings communities together and advances student confidence, leadership skills, and ambition on and off the field. With over thirty years of combined service in the medical field, Mark and Shobi wanted to provide access to medical imaging services to all student athletes irrespective of background. Since 2018, they have helped over 5,000 student-athletes with free medical images, saving families close to $6M.
The third board member is Daylon McCutcheon, a former NFL cornerback and coach. With his leadership, The Comeback Project also hosts TCP Training Camps for young athletes, guided by experts and professional athletes, to learn proper training techniques and further excel in their sport.
Based in the Inland Empire, these three friends are committed to supporting athletes throughout Southern California and beyond, from point of injury, through their high school and college athletic careers, as needed.
Having chased big dreams on the baseball field, Mark knows personally the heartbreak of having a promising athletic career cut short, because of injury and the absence of accessible care. That experience fuels everything he does. Mark now serves as Director of Radiology at SoCal Radiology and The MRI Program Director at Smith Chason College. In 2018, he co-founded Enlightened Healthcare, now The Comeback Project. Mark continues his mission: ensuring no one's future is determined by the size of their wallet.
Dr. Shobi Zaidi is a seasoned radiologist with over 20 years of experience alongside his co-founder. Guided by the conviction that athletics can play a transformative role in youth development, Dr. Zaidi has helped shape TCP's mission to provide unbiased medical access to all youth athletes. He is a lifelong sports fan and now a sports dad.
Bringing a deep understanding of athletics and player development at every level, Daylon contributes a unique perspective to TCP's mission. From the football fields at Bishop Amat High School to USC and the Cleveland Browns, he’s seen the journey first hand and is aware of physical toll sports can take, as well as the benefit of great training and access to quality care in the short and long term. Combined with his commitment to mentorship and community, he helps advance the organization's goals, working directly with young athletes.
